Infant Holy, Infant Lowly
I arranged this traditional Polish carol back in 2016, but never imagined that I would record it with my children almost ten years later. We filmed this video up American Fork canyon on a beautiful (but cold) winter's morning. The five kids, Em, and I bundled up and made a memory we will cherish for a lifetime. Nothing is more powerful that children reminding us of the real reason for the Christmas season.
Faith of Our Fathers - Violin Duet
When I arrange "Faith of Our Fathers" as a vocal solo, I also envisioned the arrangement played instrumentally with two violins. Of course, it wasn't until a handful of years later that I was able to create this music video. We filmed up Provo canyon the very end of September when the leaves were at peak fall colors. It was stunning. This piece will always make me think of my ancestors and the legacy of faith they instilled in me.
Where Can I Turn for Peace?
Growing up, I always knew that my mom's favorite hymn was "Where Can I Turn for Peace?" so it only makes sense that it was one of the first hymns that I ever arranged. It was a treasured moment sharing this music video with her. Ellie Barry was so gracious to sing this arrangement. We filmed the whole video in a river symbolic of Christ as "living water" where we can find relief from our burdens and find true and everlasting peace.
Joseph Smith's First Prayer
While serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I arranged the hymn "Joseph Smith's First Prayer" to the melody of the beloved hymn "In Humility, Our Savior." The latter is a hymn that speaks to our prayers finding access to our Father in Heaven. The former, the story of a young boy who prayed to God and received a miraculous response. This will forever be a cherished arrangement for me.
I Am a Child of God
I have been singing this children's hymn since I was a young boy, but it wasn't until I was a father that I started to view the lyrics of this song in a whole different light. It was such a blessing to perform this with my dear children. It's a video that shares some of the most intimate moments in our family's history -- this is a video I will cherish forever.
Come Unto Jesus
In the spring of 2015, I sat at my piano reading over the lyrics of Orson Pratt Huish’s beautiful hymn, “Come Unto Jesus.” The simple invitation touched me and the lyrics, though written a hundred years prior, spoke to my soul. I started playing a melody that matched the feelings I experienced that morning.
Coventry Carol & O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
12 years ago while living in London, I wrote a violin solo combining the beautiful Christmas songs, “Coventry Carol” and “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” While I don’t play the violin, I knew exactly how I wanted it to sound! I’ve always loved the haunting solo violin from the soundtrack of “Schindler’s List” scored by John Williams and that stirring feeling was what I wanted to achieve.
Jesus, Once of Humble Birth & The First Noel
The First Noel is my favorite Christmas carol. I wrote this arrangement more than 12 years ago when I noticed that the carol paired beautifully with the sacrament hymn Jesus Once of Humble Birth. I finally recorded it and filmed the music video on the beautiful Bonneville Salt Flats.
Faith of Our Fathers
This hymn has always stood out to me for its beautiful message, but I didn't fall in love with it until I had the wonderful opportunity to arrange it and have it performed for the first time ever in Irish sung by the incomparable Alex Sharpe of the internationally acclaimed performing group Celtic Woman.
Guide Me to Thee
This is quite possibly the most meaningful song of them all. This hymn got me through so many difficult days. I wrote this original melody in 2012, but had the opportunity to perform it in a music video filmed by the historic Nauvoo temple for a production with the late Elder M. Russell Ballard.
Your Story is Worth Remembering
This video pays homage to all those who have ever meant something to us. It's a reminder that your story is worth remembering. Not only does the video feature my classy mom, it also features an original song I wrote called "Out of Time" sung by Ellie Barry.
Who I Am
This lyrical dance music video is set to a song I wrote called, "Who I Am." This theme song for RootsTech 2025 speaks to a message of identity and knowing who we are. Discovering who we are isn't allowing the world to tell us, it comes back to the simple truths of our divine heritage which has always been there.
